Count the green pockets before you count anything else
Every roulette decision you will ever make is smaller than this one. A single-zero wheel carries 37 pockets: the numbers 1 to 36 and one green zero. A double-zero wheel carries 38, because a second green pocket has been added beside the first. Notice what that column does not contain: a bet that pays more than it should. Every line in it is arithmetically consistent with every other, which is why hunting for a better bet type is wasted effort — the ladder from 1 to 1 up to 35 to 1 is a volatility dial, not a value dial. Turn it towards the top if you want short sessions with big swings and can stand losing the stake quickly. Systems, streaks and the thing no sequence can change
Every roulette player eventually meets the doubling system: back red, lose, double, lose, double again, and wait for the colour to come home. It is seductive because it is almost right.
