How to withdraw from BK8 in Cambodia
Getting paid is the half of an account most pages skip. Here is the whole route out of a BK8 balance from Cambodia: what we verify before the first payout, which Bakong rail carries the money home, what each bank charges to receive it, and where the clock actually sits.
What a BK8 withdrawal is, in one sentence
It is dollars leaving a dollar balance for a dollar account. Everything else here is detail hanging off that one line. Our Cambodia region is configured to a single currency — the two internal codes we run for this market resolve to US dollars and euros, and the string KHR does not appear once in our platform config. There is no riel balance to convert out of, which is just as well: the Bakong rail underneath every Cambodian bank app refuses to cross currencies, so the transfer currency and the account currency have to match and there is no in-app FX in the flow. Point a payout at a riel account and it does not arrive slowly, it does not arrive. Three bank codes are configured on Cambodian accounts — ABA, ACLEDA and Maybank — and the rail you funded on is usually the smoothest rail back, so our deposit page repays a glance from the exit side.
None of this is exotic for anyone living here. Around 83.4% of Cambodia's broad money was denominated in US dollars at the end of 2025, and most people carry a dollar account and a riel account inside the same app, one tap apart. That closeness is why the mistake is common: read the account line, not the balance you remember. Riel still runs the street at the everyday 4,000 to the dollar — ACLEDA's board quoted 4,048 buy and 4,062 sell on 10 September 2026 — but riel is what you receive as change, not what a BK8 payout is denominated in.
Verification comes before the first payout, not during it
A Cambodian account opens light. We verify a mobile number under the 855 country code and an email address, and nothing heavier at that stage — no birthdate check and no bank verification, both of which we do switch on for other currencies. Light at the door is not the same as absent forever. Identity verification runs through Sumsub and is enabled on both Cambodian currency codes, so a document request is part of an account's normal life rather than a sign something has gone wrong. It surfaces where the money does, which in practice means around a withdrawal. The cheapest moment to clear it is a quiet Tuesday with nothing pending.
- Phone and email first. Both are required on Cambodian accounts, both take a minute, and leaving them until a payout is already waiting is the most common self-inflicted delay we see.
- Have the document ready before you need it. Sumsub checks are enabled on both Cambodian currency codes, and the National ID card or passport that Bakong registration itself asks for, photographed in good daylight, saves a second round trip.
- Fraud screening is not a rumour — iovation and ThreatMetrix badges sit in our own footer, and they are the reason a payout occasionally pauses for a human being to look at it.
- Pay yourself. A destination account in somebody else's name invites precisely the review you are trying to avoid, and it is the slowest route a withdrawal can take.
The match applies to your first deposit and the spins land on slots. Balances run in USD — no riel conversion to think about.
Requesting a withdrawal, step by step
The sequence is short and repays doing slowly once. The screen people rush is the destination — and the destination decides whether the money arrives at all. When the account is verified and the balance is cash rather than bonus credit, open the cashier and work down this list.
- Log in and open the cashier from the account menu, then take the withdrawal side rather than the deposit side. Our Cambodian locale runs on GMT+7, so any cut-off you are counting against is already Phnom Penh time.
- Choose a destination held in US dollars. ABA, ACLEDA and Maybank are the bank codes configured on Cambodian accounts, and the Bakong rail will not convert anything on the way.
- Enter the amount and check it against your own bank's ceiling rather than ours. Bakong sets no cap on how many transfers you make in a day — the value limits come from each member bank individually.
- Confirm, then screenshot the confirmation. A reference you can quote turns a support conversation from an argument into a lookup.
- Let the first payout land before you queue a second. Slicing one withdrawal into pieces to duck a limit reads exactly the way it looks.
Where the money lands: the rails and their real ceilings
Cambodia never really built a card culture. It built an app culture sitting on a national payment rail, and that rail is why a payout here behaves well. Bakong is operated by the National Bank of Cambodia and now counts 63 official members with seven more integrating — banks and wallets on one network, which is why an ABA account and a Wing wallet talk to each other without anyone thinking about it. What changes from name to name is not the road but the tollbooth. The figures below are the banks' own published schedules, and they are the ones that will shape your day.
| Movement | Per transaction | Per day | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Into ABA from another Bakong member | No stated limit | No stated limit | Free |
| Out of an ACLEDA Bakong account | 2,500 USD / 10M KHR | 10,000 USD / 40M KHR | Free |
| ABA out to another Bakong member | 60,000 USD / 240,000,000 KHR | 60,000 USD / 240,000,000 KHR | — |
| Bakong wallet back into ABA | — | — | Free |
| ABA into a Bakong wallet | 1,000 USD / 4,000,000 KHR | 2,500 USD / 10,000,000 KHR | Free to $50, then $0.50, then $1 |
| Between your own ACLEDA accounts | — | Unlimited count | Free |
Two things fall out of that table. Receiving is the cheap direction — incoming transfers into ABA from other Bakong members are free and carry no stated limit, and moving a Bakong wallet balance back into an ABA account is free as well. And the National Bank's own Bakong wallet is a transit account rather than a vault: it tops out at 10,000,000 riel or 2,500 dollars, so anything substantial wants a bank account waiting behind it. If ACLEDA is where you bank, our ACLEDA walkthrough sets out the same fee bands from the funding side, and the bands run in both directions.
Turning dollars into notes in your hand
A number in an app is not money until somebody counts it out for you, and Cambodia is better served here than most markets. Wing was built agent-first — founded in 2008, with 27 branch offices against more than 12,000 agents, roughly 80% of them women — and cashing out at a Wing agent costs nothing at all, with no minimum, from 2,000 riel to millions. The flow is four taps: open the Wing Bank App, tap QR Scan, scan the code at any agent marked Bakong Cash-Out, take the cash. TrueMoney's 10,000 agents do the same against accounts at more than 60 Bakong member institutions on a single KHQR scan, in riel or dollars, and you leave with a push notification in your bank app and a paper receipt in your hand. Our Wing page covers that agent network from the deposit direction.
| Cash route | Network behind it | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| Wing agent | 12,000+ agents nationwide | Free, no minimum, from 2,000 riel up |
| TrueMoney agent | 10,000 agents, 60+ Bakong institutions | KHQR scan, riel or dollars, receipt on the spot |
| Bank ATM | 500 USD per transaction at ABA, ACLEDA, Canadia, CPBank | Roughly 4 to 10 USD a withdrawal |
| ABA Head Office hall | Preah Sihanouk Blvd, Phnom Penh only | 2,000 KHR or 0.50 USD to cash out a Bakong wallet |
The ATM is the expensive door. Operator fees run roughly 4 to 10 US dollars a withdrawal — ABA at the upper end, commonly cited at 6 to 10, ACLEDA, Canadia and CPBank usually quoted around 5, Vattanac at the low end — and the standard per-transaction limit at ABA, ACLEDA, Canadia and CPBank is 500 dollars. Machines here dispense large notes, so expect 50s and 100s rather than something you can spend at a market stall. Small dollar bills are scarce by design: from June 2020 the National Bank had commercial banks collect 1, 2 and 5 dollar notes and ship them abroad, which is why riel now does the work of change.
Both banks are configured on BK8 for Cambodian accounts, so money moves on rails you already use every day.
How long a withdrawal takes, and what we will not invent
Three clocks run at once and only one of them is ours. The first is review: a verified account paying out to a dollar account in the holder's own name clears it fastest, and an unverified one does not clear it at all until the documents are in. The second is the rail — Bakong sets no cap on the number of transfers you make in a day, and the value ceilings belong to each member bank rather than to the central bank, which is why the table above differs by name rather than by network. The third is your own bank's cut-off, the clock nobody plans around and the one that most often explains a Friday-evening payout appearing on Saturday.
We do not publish a withdrawal time, a minimum payout or a processing fee we cannot trace to our own platform. Cambodian search results carry BK8-branded pages quoting figures that appear nowhere in our own configuration — a daily cashback rate we have never published is the best-known example. The limits and timings that govern your money are the ones inside your account and inside your bank's published fee schedule. Read those two rather than a screenshot someone posted in a Telegram group.
What can be said plainly is where the friction is not. It is not the rail: KHQR replaced roughly fifty mutually incompatible bank QR codes in July 2022, all 37 Bakong participants supported it on launch day, and the network has only widened since. It is not the currency, since your balance is already in dollars and the destination is a dollar account. The delay is almost always verification or destination — the two things under your control.
Bonus credit, turnover, and the balance you can actually take
There are two kinds of number in an account and they behave very differently the moment you press withdraw. Cash is cash. Bonus credit carries a turnover requirement first, and until that is cleared it is not a withdrawable balance. Our welcome offer is +1500% on the first deposit plus 250 free spins — a large quantity of bonus credit by any measure, which is precisely why the turnover line is the part of the terms worth reading rather than skimming. The welcome offer page walks it through line by line. For a sense of the shape of these clauses, our Cambodian referral terms run a 50 bonus against a 50 minimum deposit, a 1,000 maximum bonus and 5x turnover: credit has to be staked five times over before it converts into money you can move.
- Cash balance — yours, subject only to verification and to your own bank's ceilings.
- Bonus credit — converts into a withdrawable balance once its turnover requirement is met, not before.
- Cashback promotions we run for Cambodia, such as 100% cashback up to USD 50 on a losing soccer bet of at least USD 20, or the baccarat cashback up to USD 888, arrive as credits too. Read each one's terms before treating the figure as cash.
Crypto payouts, and the law that sits around them
Crypto sits alongside the banks in our Cambodian payment set rather than beneath them, and on the way out the only choice that genuinely costs money is the network you pick. USDT on TRC20 settles in minutes for a network fee small enough to ignore on any sensible payout; the same USDT on ERC20 takes longer and costs several times more, which on a modest amount is the difference between a rounding error and a visible bite. Our USDT page takes that choice apart properly. Context worth carrying: on 26 December 2024 the National Bank of Cambodia replaced its blanket prohibition on cryptoassets with a permission-based regime, classifying stablecoins separately from unbacked assets and requiring an NBC licence for entities providing cryptoasset services. One route that is not a payout route at all: Bakong's cross-border QR corridors are built for a Cambodian scanning a merchant abroad, and they debit a riel account.
Gambling by Cambodian nationals has been unlawful since the 1996 Law on the Suppression of Gambling, online gambling was banned with effect from 2020, and the Law on the Management of Commercial Gambling permits an online licence only as an integral part of a land-based casino licence. No offshore operator holds a Cambodian one, ourselves included. We operate under licence ALSI-202504032-FI2, issued by the Government of the Autonomous Island of Anjouan to Mettlemind Tech Ltd., registration number 15779, with games audited by BMM Test Labs, GLI and iTech Labs.
Set against all that, the withdrawal itself is the easy part. Verify while nothing is pending, keep a dollar destination in your own name attached to the account, know your bank's daily ceiling before you type an amount — the rest is four screens and a screenshot. Open the cashier and get paid.
