Four titles, and the numbers that separate them
Four PG SOFT games do most of the work here, and they are not variations on one another. Two are mahjong-tile ways games, one is a six-reel collapsing grid built around a lucky cat, and one is a three-by-three machine with five paylines and no free-spins round at all. Everything in the table below comes from PG SOFT's own published game information, including the release dates from its internal records — Mahjong Ways on 15 January 2020, Mahjong Ways 2 on 14 April 2020, Lucky Neko on 30 November 2020 and Fortune Tiger on 17 January 2022.

Two things stand out. The returns are tightly clustered — twenty-two hundredths of a percentage point covers all four, which is noise across any number of spins a person will ever play, so nobody should pick a PG SOFT slot on that decimal. The ceilings are not clustered at all: 100,000x on two titles, 25,000x on one and 2,500x on another. That forty-fold spread between Lucky Neko and Fortune Tiger, on games returning almost the same percentage, is the real choice in front of you. It is a choice about the shape of a session, not about value.

The RTP split is the number that describes your evening
Here is what makes PG SOFT genuinely different from most of the shelf. It does not just print a headline RTP; it prints where that return lives. Mahjong Ways returns 96.92% in theory, and PG SOFT splits it 68.89% main game and 28.03% Free Spins Feature. Close to a third of everything the slot ever pays is locked behind three scatter symbols. Mahjong Ways 2 is a little gentler at 70.39% main game against 26.56% in free spins. Fortune Tiger is the extreme case: 64.96% main game against 31.85% inside the Fortune Tiger Feature. Lucky Neko is the flattest of the set at 75.34% base game and 21.39% free spins. If your evening never triggers the feature, the base-game figure is the game you actually played — and on Fortune Tiger that is under sixty-five percent.
That last figure deserves a sentence. Across the ten headline slots we cover, only PG SOFT and Pragmatic Play publish a theoretical RTP for their own games. JILI publishes none — not on its game pages, not anywhere on its own site — so the 97% figure attached to JILI titles across affiliate blogs has no provider standing behind it, a point we set out in full on our JILI page. Mahjong Ways and Mahjong Ways 2 are two different slots
Three months apart in release, one word apart in name, and most players open both without registering that anything changed. They should. The original is a five-reel, four-row grid with 1,024 ways to win. The sequel keeps five reels but adds an extra row to reels two, three and four, and that single structural change lifts it to 2,000 ways and a hundred-thousand-times ceiling. The tile art is close, the sound is close, the mathematics underneath is not.
- Mahjong Ways — three scatters open 12 free spins, every extra scatter adds two more, and the round retriggers from inside itself. Wilds transform on the reels while the win multiplier climbs a fixed ladder: x2, x4, x6, x10.
- Mahjong Ways 2 — three scatters open 10 free spins on the same +2 rule. During the round every non-Wild, non-Scatter symbol on reel three turns gold, and a gold symbol becomes a Wild the moment it forms part of a win.
- Both — Medium session volatility on PG SOFT's own scale, RTP inside three hundredths of a point of each other, and a free-spins round that needs no promotion attached to it.
Preference here is temperament rather than value. The ladder on the original is predictable — reach the top step and every remaining spin pays ten times whether the reels cooperate or not. The gold reel on the sequel is not predictable at all: it can flood the middle of the grid with Wilds or do almost nothing, and spread across 2,000 ways that swing is precisely where the 100,000x cap comes from. Fortune Tiger and Lucky Neko sit at opposite ends
If Mahjong Ways is the middle of PG SOFT's range, these two are the edges. Fortune Tiger is a three-reel, three-row machine with five paylines — not a ways game at all — and it has no free-spins round whatsoever. Its only feature is a randomly triggered respin: land one or more extra symbols, either a chosen symbol or a Wild, and every reel spins again; when every symbol on the grid is part of a win, the payout is multiplied by ten. That is the entire game. It is fast, it is short-session, and its 2,500x cap is the lowest of the four titles here — though not the lowest we carry, since JILI's Fortune Gems stops at 375x.
Lucky Neko is the opposite build in every respect. Six reels, five rows, an extra reel sitting above reels two to five, collapsing reels underneath, and a ways count that breathes between 2,025 and 32,400 depending on what the grid is doing. Four scatters open ten free spins, Wilds land on the way, and every Cat symbol that arrives during the round raises the win multiplier by two — an accumulator rather than a fixed ladder. Medium volatility, and what a billion spins produced
PG SOFT publishes a Session Volatility rating that runs from Entertaining (Low) through Medium to High, and all four of these titles sit at Medium. That is worth knowing precisely because it does not separate them: the rating tells you how PG SOFT differs from other studios far more than it tells you how Mahjong Ways differs from Lucky Neko. Do not use it to choose between them. Use the max-win column and the RTP split instead. The studio also runs one-billion-spin simulations on its games and publishes the largest result that came out, which is a far more honest guide to the ceiling than the advertised cap is.
Over a billion simulated spins PG SOFT recorded 2,893x on Mahjong Ways against a 25,000x cap, 1,708x on Mahjong Ways 2 against 100,000x, and 5,527x on Lucky Neko against 100,000x. Some slot databases republish that exposure figure in the max-win field — SlotCatalog's Lucky Neko entry shows 5,527x — so a number you find elsewhere may be answering a different question.
Read an advertised cap as the roof of the building rather than the ceiling of the room you are standing in. A billion spins is far more play than the whole Cambodian audience will put through these games in a very long stretch, and the biggest single result in those samples was under six thousand times the stake. The cap describes what the mathematics permits at the extreme edge. It is not a target, and no session should be planned around it.
Playing PG SOFT from Phnom Penh
Your balance runs in US dollars. That is not a preference on our side: the Cambodia region is restricted to a single currency, USD, and the string KHR appears nowhere in the platform configuration.
